Trusts and Corporate Fundraiser

Salary: £20,600 - £25 750 depending on experience
Location: Oxford, UK

AFRICA NOW, an innovative international development agency, promotes entrepreneurship and is at the forefront of the ethical trade movement.

We are recruiting for a highly motivated person to grow Africa Now's strong base of Trust support and develop our partnerships with the corporate sector.

Taking on this challenging and rewarding role, the successful candidate will be energetic, creative, and an excellent communicator, and will be a key member of our small, dynamic Oxford-based team.

Essential requirements of this position include a track record in successful fundraising from corporates and trusts, demonstrable copy writing experience, and the ability to build strong relationships with donors.

Why Volunteer with Africa Now, Oxford?

As a small organisation, the role will give the successful application the chance to have real 'hands on' experience of fundraising within an international NGO. It will enable you to develop a range of skills for a career in the charity sector.

Africa Now is works to reduce poverty in Africa through developing small-scale business and promoting ethical international trade. This opportunity is a chance to:

  • Increase your knowledge of practical development projects

  • Gain experience in a range of different fundraising areas

  • Improve your communication and marketing skills

  • Develop a range of skills for a career in the charity sector

  • Undertake a range of responsibilities within an international charity, in a supportive and encouraging environment

Your role will include:

  • Researching, developing and expanding the charity's sources of funding
  • Identifying trusts, companies etc within whose funding criteria the charity operates
  • Keeping web pages up to date and adding new information as required
  • Assist in producing materials suitable for marketing, fundraising and publicity
  • Drafting and submitting applications
  • Liaising with donors to keep them informed of the work of the charity
  • Working with other staff members when appropriate in areas such as programme development and ethical trading
  • Contributing ideas and activities to encourage new supporters to donate to Africa Now
  • Organising fundraising events

Essential skills include an ability to manage their workload, IT skills and competence in using the internet, email and office equipment, good standard of written and spoken English, research skills, the ability to process information concisely, and good attention to detail.

It would be desirable for applicants to have some knowledge of charitable organisations and/or fundraising, office experience, the ability to write / design publicity materials and an interest in overseas development and ethical trade.
