Celebrating our Supporters
Over the last year many intrepid Africa Now supporters have cycled from London to Paris or across Cuba, run, swam and trekked up mountains in the wind, rain (and occasional sunshine!), raising over £15,000 to support people to trade their way out of poverty. We really appreciate the hard work that all the participants have put in. As well as providing valuable funds towards our programmes, these events are also really rewarding and provide a great sense of achievement.
The Mazda London Triathlon
This year Africa Now had a fantastic team of 10 competing in the London Mazda Triathlon, so far raising nearly of £6,000, and there is still more sponsorship money rolling in! Four competed in the individual sprint event on the Saturday, and six in the individual olympic event on the Sunday. The fastest time for the sprint was 1 hour 26 minutes, achieved by Ramsey Conyers, and the fastest achieved for the Olympic was 2 hours 29 minutes by Chris Boyce. What an achievement!
The British 10k London Run
What a team we had this year! We had 21 runners this, including members of the Africa Now fundraising team. Despite some rain at the beginning it was another great day, with brass bands and steel drums providing just some of the entertainment along the course. So far the sponsorship money raised totals over £4,000.
Thank you!
Everyone at Africa Now would like to express a huge 'thank you' to all those who either took part, or supported those competing.
The challenge is now on for next year! We will be entering teams in both the London 10km and London Mazda Triathlon next year, so e-mail Laura for information about how you can become part of our amazing team.
