Friends of Africa Now

We have had a fantastic group of volunteers and supporters who have carried out some of the most amazing feats and all to raise money for Africa Now!

Here are a few examples of the tasks that some wonderful people have undertaken in order to raise valuable funds for Africa Now and our projects.

A Wedding with a Difference: Sophie and Mark

Africa Now supporters Sophie and Mark have included Africa Now on their wedding list. They met at Africa Now's office in Oxford and wanted to give something back, so have given their guests the option to donate to Africa Now's High Value and Organic Vegetables Project in Zambia. This project works with farmers to diversify their crops and access reliable markets that will pay a guaranteed fair price, supporting over 400 households to increase their income and build a more secure future. Sophie and Mark hope the donations made by their guests will provide a blossoming future for farmers in Africa. We wish them all the best for their future together!

Mark Gidney's London to Paris cycle ride

In June 2008 Mark Gidney cycled from London to Paris, raising over £1,000 for Africa Now. Read about his highs and his lows, and why he would recommend you take up the challenge, here.

Ruth Storm's cycle across AfricaRuth Storm taking part in the Tour D'Afrique

Ruth Storm cycled for three weeks through East Africa as part of the Tour D'Afrique, which is a four month cycle race from Cairo to Cape Town. Ruth had to average 150km per day and went through this inspiring experience to raise funds for Africa Now's Elephants and Chillies project in Zambia. Read her story.

Fashion Show Fundraiser for Africa Now

Andrew Sansom, Suba ShotProfessional Photographer

Andrew Sansom travelled to Kenya and took some stunning photographs of Africa Now's projects. His pictures will feature in this year's annual review and add a touch of magic to Africa Now's photo collection. Andrew chose to become a photographer after 15 years in his previous career as an accountant, simply because he enjoys every aspect of photography. For Andrew "a bad day as a photographer is still better than a good day as an accountant!" To find out more about Andrew and his work, take a look at his website, www.andrewsansom.com/

Behind the Scenes: Kevin White

Kevin is the force behind this website. He has been in charge of the development and upkeep of the Africa Now website for the few years. Kevin White, we salute you! Find out more about Kevin's work at his website www.dewoollery.co.uk/
