Ethical Business Projects
Africa Now, with its unique combination of ethical business expertise and rural development experience, is able to offer special project implementation services to private sector partners who wish to have a greater impact in the communities with which they are working. Many companies want to take their ethical sourcing issues beyond that of observing workers rights, but also to ensure some benefit from the organisation also extends to the local community.
Africa Now works in collaboration with both the private sector and smallscale producers to strengthen enterprise skills and bring about successful business linkages.
Projects
The smallholder flower production project, funded by the Dutch Government, in partnership with Kenya Flower Council aims to stimulate smallholder flower production and work with exporter companies in gaining export market access.
Partnership with Honey Care Africa in Kenya, linking smallholder beekeepers to the private sector. A simple and low cost income generating activity that requires few inputs of land, labour or time. Commercial beekeeping partnership helps new beekeepers with access to equipment through an innovative leasing scheme. The honey they produce is bought by our partner Honey Care at a fixed fair price and is sold in supermarkets across Africa.
Enterprise focussed country programmes in Kenya, Zambia and Zimbabwe facilitate smallholder market access and partnerships with the private sector.
